Вариант 5 I. Перепишите следующие предложения. Подчеркните и определите по грамматическим признакам, какой частью речи являются слова, оформленные окончанием – “s”, и какую функцию это окончание выполняет, т.е. служит ли оно: а) показателем 3-го лица единственного числа глагола в Present Indefinite; б) признаком множественного числа имени существительного; в) показателем притяжательного падежа имени существительного. Переведите предложения на русский язык. 1.Agriculture is one of the main branches of the Belarusian economy for it supplies the population with foodstuffs. 2.British farmers grow wheat and other grain crops, all kinds of vegetables and fruits. 3.The plant produces a great number of machines every year. 4.The courses consist of lectures, laboratory classes and project, practical and computing work. 5.The country’s chief crops are cereal grains (mainly rye, barley and oats) and sugar beet. II. Перепишите следующие предложения, содержащие разные формы сравнения, и переведите их на русский язык. 1. This apparatus is not so cheap as that. 2. These results are as interesting as Petrov’s. 3. Переведите предложение на русский язык, обращая внимание на употребление оборота there is (there are); определите функцию глагола to have, to be. 1. Scientists have developed hundreds of pesticides for use on farms. 5. Farmers are sowing several species of grasses and one or more species of legumes in these fields now. V. Прочтите и устно переведите с I по 4 абзацы текста «AGRICULTURE IN GENERAL». Перепишите и письменно переведите I и 3 абзацы текста. AGRICULTURE IN GENERAL 1. Agriculture is the worlds most important industry. It provides us with almost all our food. It also supplies materials for two other basic human needs — clothing and shelter. In addition, agriculture provides materials used in making many industrial products, such as paints and medicines. About half the worlds workers are employed in agriculture — far more than in any other industry. 2. Food is the most important farm product. But farms also provide many other products, from natural fibers to ornamental flowers and trees. Some crops are used only to feed livestock. These forage crops include alfalfa, clover and many grasses. Forage crops are important because they make commercial livestock production possible. Farms provide almost all the worlds food, including some fish and game. Most food products come from crops. The rest come from animals, especially cattle, hogs, poultry, sheep, and other livestock. 3. The worlds farmers grow about 85 major food crops. They can be divided into eight groups. The main group is cereal grains. Grain is grown on half the worlds cropland and supplies much of the nourishment in the human diet. The chief grains are barley, corn, millet, oats, rice, rye, sorghum, and wheat. Various root crops make up the second most important group of food crops. Like cereal grains, root crops are grown throughout the world and are a basic food for many people. The leading root crops are potatoes, beets and sweet potatoes. 4. Many farms provide other raw materials for industry besides fibres. These materials include natural rubber; animal
